American Idol - 3 Great Men and A Lady That Fell Short

There will be no review from me, this week.

Just a prediction of the depressing outcome. Katherine McPhee will probably get kicked out this week. And again, song choice is her Achilles Heel, combined with frazzled nerves.

Moral of the story: It's not how much talent you have, it's how well you use that talent to succeed. And what makes it depressing is that - despite having more overall talent, Katherine McPhee, is deserving of being kicked out from the competition, based on last night's performance.

My heart goes out to Katherine - she tried to do many things right, tonight - and she still got it wrong.

p.s. Pixie, your turn to celebrate.

Dude you're so bias its not funny la.

Whilst everyone has their favourites, your previous postings on American Idol seem to indicate that you'd like this lady to win, irrespective of her inconsistent vocal performances etc. Come on..is your vote based on t*** and a****..heheh :)

Now that she's performed under par (again), you "merajuk" pulak and decide to write an untypically shorter piece than you normally do.

A slight correction there - I would like her to be in the top 2 - not necessarily win.

Yes, she's my favourite, but everyone has a favourite, right?

It's like a favourite football team - you'd support them anywhere, but if they played badly and lost, you'd still be it's strongest critic.

And I want Kat to be in the top 2, because I think she deserves an album deal.

(And great comments on Katherine's talent have been coming from the likes of Tommy Mottola (who built up Mariah Carey's career), Barry Manilow, David Foster, the amazing Stevie Wonder (who can't see her physical attributes), Kenny Rogers and surviving members of Queen.

If I'm equally wrong (and so-called biased) in this great company of amazing men, in the music world - so be it)

The person that deserves to win is Chris Daughtry. And he's probably the only one that will get an album deal, now.

Taylor and Elliot are not "sexy" enough for the MTV mass market.

As for physical attributes of female singers - 3 names - Mariah Carey, Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Lopez - they sell more albums than most female artistes, we know. It's an advantage, if used well.

The real world votes (if we translate that into album sales) is based not just on talent, but also physical attributes.

That's showbiz nowadays - be it in singing or acting. It's the reality.

Yes, Kat performed under-par again, last night but I think it's the first time, where she's clearly the worst performer (bear in mind that in some weeks, she has been the best).

And her song choices (and decision to mix and match Elvis songs) are just disastrous.

If I am biased, I would want her to qualify to the next week, regardless of how she performed. Then, my reviews would always reflect that she's in the top 2.

It hasn't been - check it and you will see. I've been fair in my comments on good performances, even to singers like Taylor - who'd probably never make it, in the music world.

Not because he's not good - but because the reality is, (outside of American Idol) there is no demand for that sort of sound and image, today.

(The days of Robert Palmer and Billy Joel are long gone)

I tak "merajuk" but I am very disappointed, with Kat's probable exit. She's got enough talent to make it in the music world.

But sometimes, the inexperience and nerves of youth, overshadows the huge talent she's been blessed with.

And others like Taylor and Elliot are deserving of their places, by performance.

They've been smarter in playing to their strengths and have risen to the occasion and peaked at the right times - even when blessed with less vocal talent.

Read the comments, dude - if you still think I'm biased - as a phrase in a P. Ramlee film goes, "suka hati engkau lah, Labuuuu",...

Najah:

Yep, See you this Saturday, dear. :) Xena knows and she'll try to make it, if she can.

Not necessarily true, dear.

Elliot has been raising his game - it's interesting to see whether he could pip Taylor to the top 2.
