American Idol - Down to Four

Paris Bennett has been eliminated from the American Idol competition. It's a sad day indeed to see her go this early. But poor song choices can kill you.

But given the strong reviews of all the trainers on Paris - I think someone should really look her up, to consider giving her an album deal. She may not be all that popular, but she is all that good.

The top four now is - Chris, Katherine, Taylor and Elliot.

My bet for next week's elimination is Elliot - although if we go by the track record that it's always the 2nd worst performer of the night that gets kicked out - it could be Katherine. Or Taylor. And I think Katherine knows that - looking at her nervous expression last night, after the results were announced.

And Taylor on his good day, can whip anyone, given the right song. Katherine needs to be the best performer in the next 2 weeks, to safely avoid elimination.

Anything can happen now. Song choice, the "wow" factor, personality, performance and resistance to nervousness - in that order, will rule the day and decide who survives into the final 2. And I feel that only Chris Daughtry has been doing that most consistently.

At this stage, they've got to be smart in choosing songs that brings out the star quality in them and to risk it all and give it all they've got.

What have they got to lose?

But I'm still rooting for Katherine and Chris to be in the top 2. And after that, it doesn't matter anymore who wins. They'll both be recording artists and future stars.

told ya Paris is going out this round. But in all fairness, she is the better singer compare to taylor and elliot. She sang Mary J Blige's song very very well.

Yeah, tell me about it. Let's hope she'll still get the chance to be a star, anyway.

It could be possible for Paris to be another Clay Aiken - he didn't win, yes? But I have to say, I miss Mandisa a lot. Heh.

Unlike Akademi Fantasia, it's hard to find examples of people who are not in top 2 of American Idol, becoming recording artistes.

Clay Aiken was No. 2. And so was Bo Bice. And that's part of the reason they got the opportunity, they got.

But there are other second-placed competitors in AI, who never made it at all, to a recording studio.

But let's hope that Paris is the first exception to that rule. It'd be a waste, if she's not
