Checking In

Woke up this morning and found that there was no water supply available in my condo. Drat!

Apparently, the main water pipes in Block C had burst, leaving everyone in my block (which is about 70+ occupied units) without water supply. What's worse is that the problem will take about 3 days to fix.

Of all the things to happen today, dammit!

Am checking in, into a hotel for the next 2 nights. That's probably where I'll be blogging from, next.

This is not exactly the adventure I was asking for. :( Aaarrrggghhh! Sabar je laaaah,...

Actually, you're right. Now that I'm here - it does make for a nice change in scenario. :)

Not the sort of out of town break I was looking for, but it'll do for the while.

It's like bachelor party where the only person that attends is the bachelor himself. ;D

And the broadband here is really fast! Makes surfing really enjoyable.

Out of town break .. why don't you volunteer for earthquake relief in Yogja here in Indonesia.

You can get on the ground and talk to the locals here. They are a very lovely people. You can get to find your Malay roots.

Thanks for the (strange) suggestion.

Earthquake relief is not a matter for the uncommmited - so for now, I'll just do my part via donations.

I was thinking more along the lines of a holiday. I don't think Indonesia's the place to go, as people are grieving over the Jogja tragedy now.

As for my ancestral roots, if I was looking, it'd be up north in Thailand and also somewhere in the Middle East.

Sri Ayu condo by any chance? Lived out there way back in 97. Used to have water issues there all the time. Good thing about the place was that it was always packed with cronic looking chicks in sexy looking clothes. Apparently the place was a haven for datuks to stash their love slaves there, away from the datins in nearby tmn tar but close enuf to make constant housecalls to:)

Regarding the strange suggestion bro', you mentioned food for the soul - and I think doing some good work will sate that 'hunger'. As for grieving, unless you go to Bantul, most districts are not that badly hit in terms of loss of life. In relation to the population (there are more than 5 million residents in that region), it is mostly damage to buildings and infrastructure, rather loss of life.

My driver tells me that his relatives are all ok, but their homes are damaged. Another driver - same thing, without serious injuries to his relatives.
One of the bules has a girlfrined (he's married and over 50 and she's just 22) from Jogja and it seems her family is ok as well. Our secretary is also from the Jogja region but I haven't been to the office to speak with her.

I find Indons are very lovely people. They bear their poverty beautifully and bersyukur for everything.

As for roots, I had assumed that unless you are Jawi pekan, most would trace back to Indonesia, somehow.

My family is with me, otherwise I would invite you to come over. I normally have a couple of spare bedrooms and you would be welcome to stay. More later, I gotta rush of.

Nope, not Sri Ayu. This water issue is a one-off, because of the pipe bursting. Otherwise, have never had problems in the condo, before.

Sri Ayu sounds interesting, though. ;)

Babu:

I see your point. Yes, contribution could possibly satiate the "hunger".

There was a time in my life, when waking up to do "national service" work, gave me the best high, everyday.

Glad to hear that some in Jogja did not suffer from loss of lives or relatives.

It's tragic what's happening to the Indonesians - first , Acheh and now this. :(

But yes, I agree with you on the Indonesians, being a beuatiful people - figiratively, that is.

They've always had more "soul" than us on everything - music, literature, films, religion, etc. Not everything is literal, not everything is ritual or dogmatic.

Although I think it's a great virtue to bersyukur through everything, but we have to remember that poverty is the border of disbelief - I think our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. said that.

But thanks very much for your kind offer to bunk up in Jakarta. Will take you up on the offer, one day, bro'. :)

Aisey. What you went through sounds awful.

So, how is the Chief Minister asking for an LRT system in Melaka, going to improve the water situation? ;)
