Kesyukuran

Aku bersyukur, Ar-Rahman
Atas segala rahmatmu padaku
yang melimpah ruah;

Aku bersyukur Ar-Rahman

Aku bersyukur, Ar-Rahman
Atas limpah kurnia Mu.
Kerna kerapnya aku dalam alpa kesian diri
hingga terlamun lalai dan lupa menghargai
kesan rahmat baik buruk
hidup di dunia ini.

Aku bersyukur, Ar-Rahman
Untuk segala cerita masa depan
yang telah termaktub,
tapi belum lagi dialami.

Yes, there's much to be thankful for, all the time.

But sometimes, it's easier to appreciate things when you're basking in the light of happiness, than when you're ruminating in the darkness of despair.

But I guess it's necessary to do it at both times and trust in the greater wisdom of God.

Though sometimes, when you're in the darkness, it's easier said than done.

But in one form or another, the light always, eventually comes - if you've trained yourself not to be blind to hope and blessings.

I have a lot of things to be thankful for :) In fact, many days, I pass by a LG bill board which reminds me that Life's Good :)

However, I have a problem with bersyukur. The spiritual implication is that I have to keep away from things that are haram :( and I am enjoying it toooo much to stop.

Akademi Fanstasia? ;D

Babu:

I think we should be thankful, either ways, bro'.

If we waited until we're truly good, pure and flawless to be thankful - then perhaps, we might never reach there.

At the end of the day, the act of being thankful is between you and God.

And since we don't decide on who goes to heaven or hell, let's give God's great mercy, a little benefit of the doubt.

Thanks bro'. I appreciate your clear headed advice.

Alhamdulillah, I am in heaven right now ;) heheheh, although some may say all this will lead me to hell :(

I agree with you that 'Rezeki itu ada pada mereka yang berusaha mencari'. And if I sit back thinking about dosa, haram and halal, I won't be having a good time ;). One regret I have, is that I never made it with a certain German girl because of confusion over my religious obligations. That was some time ago. At one time, she hung out with some Pakistanis (among others) who did not have such reservations.

Anyway bro', you have been keeping pretty quiet. No new posts? How are things in Malaysia?

From afar, I have heard about grumbling with the slow award of the 9MP spread. Many are unhappy that AAB took a vacation in Oz, while they have to wait (dish in hand). He has only taken care of the high level plans but not pushed the machinery to speed up execution.

Since you have had some connection with the 9MP, what is your experience?

Ya u have been keeping pretty quiet. How come no posting on your favourite singer Siti Nurhaliza and her marriage to the suave Dato' K?

Babu:

Yes, have been pretty quiet.

Happiness tends to dry up the inspiration within me. :)

Things in Malaysia are tricky. The Pak Lah-Tun Mahathir battle is worsening, I feel.

I cringe to think how long the battle could prolong and what the possible outcomes, could be.

As for the 9MP, (which is technically for the period 2006-2010) I think we have to bear in mind that it was only announced on 31st March 2006 - less than 4 months ago.

If we take previous Malaysia Plans (like the 7th and 8th) as a benchmark, it takes about 6-12 months from announcement of the Plan, for the projects to kick-off.

So, the Abdullah administration is still within the usual Malaysia Plan implementation period.

The "delay" is felt because between the 28-month period which he took over in the 8th Malaysia Plan (November 2003-March 2006) - there were very few big projects and the Abdullah administration really made a detailed study and consultation with many parties, for the direction of 9th Malaysia Plan.

To be fair, some of the funds under the 9MP (like the ones under MOSTI) have already started their opening application cycles in May, although publicity has been minimal.

But the others will kick-off soon and I'm quite confident that in less than 1.5 years, once all the projects kick-off and the distribution effect kicks in - there will be less griping on the ground.

(Of course, this is susbject to what happens to oil prices, of course)

Malaysians tend to complain less when their tummies are full, regardless of the substance and corruption of leadership. History has proven that.

That's my personal opinion.

Yes, have been quiet because I've been happy. :)

As for Siti and Datuk K - I would have preferred her choice to be someone like the highly-educated and well-mannered singer Fazley.

But since she's made her choice - kita doakan semoga bahagia ke anak cucu, God willing. Sincerely - because none of her loyal fans, would want her to end up making a mistake.

And I hope she won't stop singing after her marriage - that will be a great loss to the Malaysian entertainment scene.

Aiyoooo, very sorry for the teh tarik delay, dear.

Next week, once I've recovered from this back ligament injury, we're definitely on for teh tarik, k?

Call me and let's confirm a date and time. :)

p.s. AF is just like Animal Planet - except that it's in Malay, the animals sing and they're much more interesting. ;)

Ah, no wonder we have this sense of kinship. When we're happy, we cannot write readable stuff :P

Anyway, Animal Planet give more insights and something new for me to say. Can't say the same for AF la. Haha.

You cannot discuss Animal Planet with anyone at the office laaaa. AF, on the other hand,...;)

Dame Rosse:

I wish I had a glamorous excuse for the injury - but it's just a recurrence of an old injury that I had in 2004.

The first time was due to carrying heavy luggage, the second time was due to carrying heavy stacks of newspapers.

Talk about gila tak macho ways to get injured! ;D

It is the worst AF I've ever seen.

Which is surprising, considering that vocal standards, as a whole, has risen.

But even though these kids are more talented, they don't seem to be absorbing as much, from their vocal lessons. I'm not sure why.

Only the Indonesians can come up with a song like Teman Tapi Mesra ;) Imagine if some of our artistes came up with such lyrics! There will be a hue and cry and demonstrations by PAS :(

A very meaningful song By Ratu:

Aku punya teman
Teman sepermainan
Dimana ada dia selalu ada aku

Dia amat manis
Dan juga baik hati
Dan dia slalu ada waktu untuk membantuku

Namun aku bingung
Ketika dia bilang cinta
Dan dia juga katakan
‘tuk ingin jadi kekasihku

R:
Cukuplah saja berteman denganku
Janganlah kau meminta lebih
Kutak mungkin mencintaimu
Kita berteman saja
Teman tapi mesra

Aku memang suka pada dirimu
Namun aku ada yang punya
Lebih baik kita berteman
Kita berteman saja
Teman tapi mesra

Poor AF, it's such a modern Malay cultural icon, like Gol & Gincu. One in a Million have got far better singers, and I like the simple, no-frills format.

babu, the Indon music scene is way "edgier" than ours (although I mostly hear Indon hits meletup inflight). I think their music videos are sharply done too.

Yeah - it's a good song. One of my karaoke buddies sings it, constantly.

Anon 2:

AF has its own sort of Malaysian appeal and a different sort of crowd that appreciates it. :)

As for the Indonesian songs being "edgier" - I totally agree!

Maine:

No, she's not Kelantanese.

And progress on my blog, can only reflect the progress in real life. ;)

Sorry that it took so long - but happiness is finally here and I'm savouring every moment of it.

Life's too short and it's great to have a present and a future to look forward to, everyday.
