American Idol: Verdict and The Final 10

Kevin Covais is out! And I find myself surprised and left with mixed feelings.

Yes, I expected him to be in the bottom 3, but performance-wise, he's certainly not worse than Bucky or Taylor Hicks last night.

But the people have decided and Kevin is OUT! (On another note, Taylor Hicks was not in bottom 3, as I predicted. I suspect he's getting the senior citizen votes in the US! ;))

It's kinda poetic justice, but one week late. Kevin was the worst performer for last week, I felt. But Melissa McGhee paid the price, instead.

And this week, America got it wrong again and he paid the price and Bucky barely escaped elimination. One wonders whether he'll escape again next week, as at least 7 out of the 10 left, are way beyond his league.

Just as I predicted could happen, Lisa Tucker's bad song choice got her in the bottom 3 again. I hope this serves as a wake-up call, to this young one. Barry Manilow called her "a powerhouse at 16" and it's time she starts choosing songs that will do her justice. Otherwise, the next time she finds herself in the bottom 3, might be her exclusion from the competition.

Down to the top 10, now. America has still not made any major mistakes - all those excluded have relatively deserved to be in the bottom 3, performance-wise or from bad song choices.

Within the next 2-3 weeks, the major heartbreaks will begin, as the bigger and better talents get kicked out from the show. The competition will be intense and it'll be interesting to see, who holds up well under pressure.

My vote's still on the "McPheever" girl! :) Go Katherine!

p.s. Pixie: Next week you better not tell or hint me the results, ah?! ;) Otherwise, you will feel the wrath of Mumm-Ra, the Ever-liviiiiiing,....

(Humour me - I used to be crazy about Thundercats, as a kid,...)

My daughters were quite upset with Chicken Little being voted out. He's obviously not going to be the American Idol but I don't think he was this week's worst performer. In fact, the competition is quite tight this year, I think. Out next week? My guess is Ace.

Present can only be given over dinner. ;)

Anon 2:

Agree with you on Chicken Little. But I don't think next week will be Ace. It will be Bucky or Taylor, I think.

And if it's a really unfortunate day, it may just be underperforming Lisa Tucker. :(

You must have me mistaken for someone else, dear. Been having dinner alone most night, nowadays. Am not as happening as you imagine me to be. ;)

Chicken Little is a cartoon character. Kevin Covais looks like him, hence the nickname.

And believe me, if you're not watching this season's American Idol, you're missing out on a lot of vocal talent!

Aiyoh, Sting...apa dah jadi?? I had no idea you were this Idol crazy! I LOVED the Thundercats, btw...I had ambitions of becoming Cheetara when I grew up. Sadly, this dream has not been fulfilled...yet.

Actually, I've always been crazy about anything that's singing or vocal-related. :)

I qualified for the school choir first, before I began making the school team in any games or sports.

But this season of American Idol is a bit more captivating, because the talent pool is bigger and far better than the last 3 seasons.

You nak jadi Cheetara of Thundercats, dulu? Hahahaha! (*Trying to imagine you in Cheetara suit,...)

Well, , figuratively speaking, I think you've fulfilled your dream - you've run so fast (with your abilities) that you're on an entirely different plane of achievement and continent now. :)

And yes, at our next costume party - don't forget to dress up as Cheetara, yeah? Rrrrreeooowwwww,....;)

p.s. I've always harboured dreams of becoming Tigra,...hehehhehe,..Thundercats hooooooooooo!,...

Hahah..

Okay, okay. Will not "spoil" your Wednesday and Thursday nights.

But here's my top 5 (I'm crossing my fingers and my toes that they will make it): Chris, Mandisa, Katherine, Elliot and Bucky.

Oh. If you want to check out the idol results, just go to: www.sirlinksalot.net (and go to the American Idol links... hahahah)

Bucky? I'm hoping Bucky would get kicked out by the next round!

Wanna take a bet that Bucky will not make it to the top 5? ;)

My pick for the top 5 would be: Chris, Katherine, Mandisa, Paris and Elliot.

And Lisa Tucker as the wild-card (replacing Elliot), if she improves by the next episode.

If not, Kellie Pickler, as wild card no. 6 or potential no. 5 (because she will get ALL the votes of the country folk)

And no! I will definitely check the results beforehand! :)

TTG:

Glad to see that you're back in action, Mak Ayam. :)

Would love to catch up with you and Dinzie for dinner - it has been a long while.

Triple dinner treat is optional - I leave that up to your discretion. I'm not very good at poultry in motion. Haha!

Chicken little dance? Absolutely not! Ahhahahahaha,...

Ok. Lets take a bet. I say the country folks will make sure Bucky makes it to the Top5!

That pickler girl should go.

Hahah. By the way, Thundercats not my era lah! ;)

Pixie:

You're on!

If I were you, I wouldn't bet on someone that has been in the bottom 3 twice, to make it to the top 5. :)

Kellie Pickler maybe a bit of a bimbo, but she sings country songs far better than Bucky and there's something magnetic about her childish wide-eyed innocence.

So, what's the stake, Pixie? You name it.

p.s. Thundercats is forever, okay? Got no era one. But you would only know that if you had Lion-O's Sword of Omens, which gives him sight beyond sight,...;)

Dear Stingray, if Bucky makes it to the Top5, I promise you that I will not torment you every Thursday.

Otherwise, I will haunt your blog and tell you who got kicked out at 11am (on Thursday) - at least 9 hours before the show!

Hahahahah.. (I'm laughing like Gargamel - Smurf is more of my era!)

Blogger Stingrayz said...

Pixie:

Hey, hang on! In that case, you win either ways! No fair, Smurfette! :(

BTW, my favourite character is Azreal, Gargamel's (almost always victimized) cat. :)

Ahem, you see,...the smurfs can be considered to be in my era, too! :)

On a related tv show, America's Next Top Model (the season currently showing on Astro Channel V), they're down to 4 I think. I like Keenyah, she has a beautiful face, tapi dia macam ada attitude problem. My top 2 are Keenyah and (her arch enemy) Naima.

I must admit, watching America's Next Top Model changed my once narrow perception about modelling entirely.

It's hard work and it requires a lot of talent. Not easy to get the right "look" and bring out the sensuality in one's photos.

My vote's on Naimah to win. The girl's a natural.

Susah sangat, get TTG to ask and we go for group outing! :)
