Uncommon Sense

This is from Carly Fiorina, former Chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard and one of the top women corporate achievers in the world:

"Love what you do, or don't do it.

Don't make a choice of any kind, whether in career or in life, just because it pleases othersor because it ranks high on someone else's scale of achievement or even because it seems to be, perhaps even for you at the time, simply the logical thing to do at that moment on your path.

Make the choice to do something, because it engages your heart, as well as your mind. Make the choice, because it engages all of you."

*******************************************************************

And from Larry Page, co-founder of the hugely successful search engine, Google:

"I think part of the reason we're successful so far is that originally, we didn't want to start a business.

We were doing research at Stanford University. Google sort of came out of that. And we didn't even intend to build a search engine, originally. We were just interested in the Web and interested in data mining.

And then we ended up with a search technology that we realized was really good. And we built the search engine. Then we told our friends about it and our professors. Pretty soon, about 10,000 people a day, were using it."

Yes, you are losing your mind, dear. ;) Doesn't matter - you're probably my only faithful reader now, anyway. Haha!

What about next Friday night on the 7th? Will call you for details of where and what time.

You ask "mak ayam" TTG ye? ;) And then I will explain to her the perceived link between baldness and libido. Hehe!

there was another post on honesty and corruption! yours is the only blog that is promuda-ish :) i may be 37 but i'm not senile!

so this friday is you and me, or you, me and ttg and your datin? hahahahaha.

i went on a date last week and the guy had a bald spot. i couldn't concentrate after that. that spot was like this beacon of what i don't know. and guess what? i now have baldie sending me countless sms's, emails etc. sheeeeshhh!!! aren't there any NORMAL men out there?

Dinzie:

My blog is not anything "ish", dear. Other than being "me-ish". The Promuda people would probably frown at the number of American Idol entries here. ;)

This Friday, you can choose which option you prefer - you and me, or you and me and TTG or you, me, TTG or the Datin candidate. Any of the 3 pun boleh. :)

As for the bald guy - is he not normal because he's bald or because he's sending you countless SMS'es? If he had a full head of hair like David Arumugam of Alleycats, would be he be more normal to you? ;D

I think you may be missing out on a lot, if you exclude him, from the list of beau candidates. If urban legend is to be believed-lah. ;)

Will explain over dinner. Heh! :)

Sounds like you're going through a hectic time, dear. :)

Oh well, good luck with the tender.
Hope you will complete it soon and be able to spend time with zee laki and family again, 'coz I'm sure they miss you.

And, don't worry, I'm sure you'll wow them at the reunion. Remember, there will always be people that are not as thin as you,....;)

TTG:

Dinner is definitely on! You and Dinzie compulsory attendance, the prospective Datin is optional. ;)

And I could never treat you guys like lamp posts - lamp posts are quiet and stationary. ;) Hehehhee.

Bald men are definitely in! Will explain the link over dinner, nanti. But it's just similar to what they say about guys with big feet,..;) Heh!

If we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair.
we'd never have a friendship,
we'd never go into business,
because we'd be cynical.

Well that's nonsense. You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on your way down.

Trying to encourage myself... going through roughest turbulence at work right now. Male boss taken over by lady boss.

By the way, that proverb, I heard it from somewhere and the owner's name is Ray something.

Welcome to the blog!

And what you said is very true. It's really important to love what you do, not only to do exceed yourself at it - but also to be happy.

I understand. We're all saddled with our respective constraints - family, financial, cultural, etc.

And sacrificing for loved ones is a most noble trait. I guess if you love making your loved ones happy - in a way, you're also doing what you love.

But I guess what Fiorina is saying (or what I think she's saying) is that the attempt to walk towards doing what you love, should be made, if you are to achieve your full potential.

It may take a few month, a few years, a few decades or even post-retirement - but eventually, one should come to the point of doing something one loves, for oneself.

It's never too late - the important thing is to never stop hoping.

And if our loved ones are worth the effort we pour on them, eventually they'd understand and give us the space, to be all that we can be.

And since this is not an ideal world and loved ones are not always as considerate, as we hope them to be - then, I guess, at some point in one's life - you just have to take a stand and pursue your dreams.

Shud:

Thank you, Shud.

The blog is just an outlet that keeps me sane but if others enjoy and learn something from what is read here - that's a bonus to me. :)
