The Benefit of Hindsight

Tonight, I learnt that sometimes, truth only unravels with time and in stages.

How I wish that sometimes, we could have the big picture immediately - so that you can make the correct decisions (without being clouded by the benefit of the doubt) and not grieve unnecessarily, for people who have no regard for you or your feelings. Though they may pretend, that they do.

But no, the big picture is like a jigsaw puzzle that comes one piece at a time. And perhaps, you don't see the big picture, until the last piece of the jigsaw is fitted in.

At that point, everything makes sense. And you count your lucky stars, that sometimes, you don't always get what you wish for. You'll see clearly, without being clouded by your emotions.

There are times when the grief of heartbreak, may be the price you pay for the escape from a lifetime with a destructive and diabolical animal.

Unfortunately, truth and the benefit of hindsight takes time. And once you know for sure, the knowledge will free you. From grief, from longing, from regrets.

And remember, you can neither love or help someone that does not have a conscience and will not flinch in being unfair to others, as long as their ends are achieved. It's an exercise in futility.

It's late. Good night, people!

Your ability to view from the hindsight is simply remarkable.

In other words, everything happens for a reason? there's no such thing as coincidence?

Not really. Hindsight is always 20/20 - if you're willing to learn.

The ability to have greater foresight (by instinct or by experience) - now THAT would be remarkable.

And I'm hoping that one day, good hindsight will lead to great foresight.

I want to stop being good at surviving trouble - and to try being good at avoiding them.

And I have to remember that some things are beyond the reach of good intentions.

Everyone is a product of their environment and sometimes, their hopes, fears and behavioural distortions are a product of that environment.

Choose your friends. Choose your loved ones. Choose carefully those who you think is worth the effort and the grief, within reason.

Pojan:

In the grander scheme of things, you're obliged to believe to believe that everything that happens, is meant to happen to you.

In your words, that everything happens for a reason.

Somtimes, you find out what the reasons are, on hindsight and reflection.

One can always rationalize too, if it's comforting to believe that life happens to us, regardless of our choices.

But sometimes, you never find out, the reason why. Or you just can't accept the reasons given to you.

In these, you just learn to harden inside and never understand - and possibly, never forgive.

But we do have choices. And where we end up, has everything to do with the choices we make in life.

We are a product of our environment.

The environment may be imposed on us - but we do have a choice on how we handle that environment and how it shapes the outcome of our lives.

Fate helps those who help themselves.

Personally, I feel that the ability to make good choices in life is the foundation to being happy.

And the key to being unhappy, is to continuously make bad choices.
